Ed Moss has been named chief executive officer of Stephens Media LLC effective Dec. 2.
Moss replaces Michael Ferguson, who is stepping down.
Most recently Moss held the position of president and CEO of the Denver Post and prior to that he served as president and publisher of the San Diego Union-Tribune. During Moss’ tenure in both Denver and San Diego, he and his team grew local print revenue, significantly increased digital revenue and more than doubled the profits at each of those companies. During his career he has also served as president of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, as well as publisher of newspapers in Michigan, Ohio, Louisiana and Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Chris, have six grown children and four grandchildren.
“We are delighted to welcome Ed to Stephens Media,” Warren Stephens, chairman of the board, said Friday. “Ed brings a wealth of talent to the company and will spearhead our increasing digital efforts,” Stephens said.
Ferguson served in various capacities with Stephens Media and its predecessor Donrey Media Group since 1968. Before becoming chief executive officer in late 2010, Ferguson had served as chief operating officer of the company since 1999. He was formerly the publisher of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin and the Woodland Daily Democrat, both newspapers in California.
Stephens Media also owns West Hawaii Today, Hawaii Tribune-Herald, North Hawaii News and Big Island Weekly.
