A large north swell brought high surf to Hawaii Island’s north- and east-facing shores Wednesday.

A large north swell brought high surf to Hawaii Island’s north- and east-facing shores Wednesday.

Surf between 15 and 25 feet was forecast for a stretch of the North Kona coast, from Keahole Point to Kiholo Bay. Kona saw some of the surf because the swell traveled through the Alenuihaha Channel, catching exposed north-facing shores, particularly near Kekaha Kai State Park, said National Weather Service Senior Meteorologist Tom Birchaud.
