Valerie Jean Green, 64, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 13. Born April 18, 1949, in California, she worked as a nurse at the UCSF Medical Center and Mt. Zion Hospital.
She is survived by husband Donald Green of Kailua-Kona; son Robert (Michelle) Green of Novato, Calif.; daughters Taylor Patterson of Los Angeles, Delores Kilgore of Modesto, Calif., and Mei Ling Green of Monterey, Calif.; brother Fred Mayberry of Palo Alto, Calif.; sisters Francine Manning of Cleveland and Sherry Mayberry of Dallas; and seven grandchildren. Friends are welcome for visitation at The Chapel at Palm Terrace in Kailua-Kona from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 23.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 24 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.

Alan Doi
Alan Isamu Doi, 65, of Hilo died Oct. 12, 2013, at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired staff sergeant of the Air National Guard 291st Combat Communications Squadron, rooster member of Hilo Jaycees, University Heights Kumiai and New Hope Christian Fellowship.
Private services were held.
He is survived by wife, Kiyoko Doi of Hilo; daughter, Colleen Doi of Hilo; brother, Roy (Cass) Doi of Mililani, Oahu; two grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
