Kona’s musician and composer duo Irminsul and Kristin Aria of Anela Strings have been creating dynamic instrumental music for healing and inspiration since 2010.

Their unique style calls for a new genre in the music industry, with a combination of Celtic harp duos to transmuting electronic journeys on drum, harp and keyboard. The two musicians each play two instruments, sometimes together.

The duo is currently working on its fourth CD, “Seraphim,” which is being performed live at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu for the first time. The duo call its new music “epic” because of its blend of contemporary classical, new Celtic and new sacred styles. The name “Seraphim” comes from Hebrew and is a celestial being in the heavenly realms. It is believed that the seraphim make up the highest choir of the angelic hierarchy and members are the caretakers of God’s throne, continuously singing.

The name “Anela” is the Hawaiian word meaning angel. A previous album completed in 2011 is called “Archangel” and is a tribute to the archangels Michael, Ariel, Raphael, Gabriel and Metatron.

Irminsul, who plays keyboard and Celtic harp, is a composer of many genres of music from contemporary classical to electronica, alternative, world and new sacred music. He has written music scores for publication and private use, writes scores for musicians and has created several CDs over the years of his solo works.

Kristin Aria plays Celtic harp and percussion and is a composer of folk, spiritual, contemporary classical and new sacred music. For percussion, she mostly plays a djembe, an African drum made of carved wood and a goat-skinned top. She has had years of experience as a drum player for an Afro-Caribbean dance troupe and also her own drum classes.

Anela Strings’ music has won two awards through the Big Island Music Awards in 2011 and 2012. The group was also featured in the November 2012 issue of Keola Magazine as the “Timeless Troubadours.”
