Katsutoshi “Kats” Matsumura, 90, of Kealakekua died Sept. 9, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 22, 1923, in Honolulu, he was a commercial fisherman, a self-employed coffee and macadamia nut farmer, the owner of the former Central Kona Garage, a member of Kona Lions Club, Central Kona Union Church, and a veteran of World War II.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. Oct. 19 at Central Kona Union Church in Kealakekua for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.
He is survived by wife, Emiko Matsumura of Kealakekua; sons, Lance Matsumura of Kailua-Kona, Jared (Julie) Matsumura and Ira (Akiko) Matsumura, all of Honolulu; brother, Sueto (Sanae) Matsumura of Kealakekua; sisters, Miyuki (Tatsuo) Higashi of Hilo, Eileen Takata of Los Angeles, Setsuko Wheeler of Honolulu, Jeanette (Lawrence) Maesaka of Hilo, Margie (Stanley) Orimoto and Setsuko Wheeler, all of Honolulu; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lillian Nelsen
Lillian Alepoki Grace Nelsen, 87, of Napoopoo died Sept. 14, 2013, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born March 14, 1926, in Kahauloa, she was an assistant executive housekeeper at the former Hawaiian Holiday Hotel in Waikiki, the Kona Hilton, King Kamehameha and Kona Inn hotels; a manager at Jupiter’s Laundry Services and a floral arranger.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 19 at Kahikolu Congregational Church in Napoopoo for an 11 a.m. service. Private scattering of ashes will be held at a later date. The family requests casual attire be worn and flowers are welcome.
She is survived by son, Joseph (Paulette) Grace of Poipu, Kauai; daughters, Momi (Wally) Friedlander of Olympia, Wash., Josephine Nelsen of Kealakekua, Gerry Palacat of Napoopoo; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ronnie Anthony “Sting” Paro, 61, of Waimea died Sept. 30, 2013, at University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Born in Kohala, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and chief irrigation specialist at Waikoloa Village Golf Course.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at Kahilu Town Hall, also known as Mana Ohana Christian Hall in Waimea, for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Cusette Paro of Waimea; daughter, Haley Paro of Waimea; father, Raymond Paro of Kohala; sisters, Florine Paro (Michael Seto) of Hilo; Raynae (Leonard) Pang of Hawi; Jody (Joseph Jr.) Reyes of Ewa Beach, Oahu; numerous nieces and one nephew.
