Family Support Hawaii is seeking Secret Santas to help make its fifth annual Kalikimaka No Na Keiki (Christmas for the Children) campaign a success.
Becoming a Secret Santa is easy — a person can either “adopt” the children of a family or make a monetary donation. The organization’s team will do the rest.
Founded in 1979 by members of the community who were concerned about the life-long consequences of child abuse and neglect, Family Support Hawaii is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency that offers a multitude of programs that touch nearly every facet of family life on the Big Island. This past year, Family Support Hawaii provided direct support to more than 3,500 families through its programs.

Wills, trusts program set for seniors meeting
The Kailua-Kona Seniors meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. Attorney Darl Gleed will speak about wills and trusts. A question-and-answer session follows his presentation.

Kealakekua library hosts music program
The Kealakekua Public Library is hosting a free music program, “Instruments of the World: A Sound Sampling,” beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Instrumentalist Gwen Jones will perform on acoustic instruments, including the didgeridoo, Balinese flute, ecktar and Tibetan bell with a discussion about sound and what makes it happen.

Home Expo features room makeover contest
The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Shame & Showcase contest as part of the ninth annual Building and Design Expo. Homeowners can submit a photo of a “shame” room that needs improvement or a “showcase” room that features a beautiful interior design. Visitors to the Oct. 25 to 27 event at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay will chose a winner among five finalists in each the shame category and the showcase category. The shame winner will receive a $500 Visa gift card, an interior design consultation with Susan J. Moss, ASID, and will be featured in At Home Magazine. The showcase winner will win a $200 Huggo’s gift certificate and a magazine feature.
Photos may be entered at westhawaiitoday.com through Monday. Online voting to determine the 10 finalists will take place Tuesday through Oct. 20. The winner will be selected at 3 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Building and Design Expo.
