The streak is over.

Cal Santa Barbara shocked the University of Hawaii volleyball team on Friday night in Honolulu, winning 25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 22-25, 15-12 to end the Rainbow Wahine’s 77-match conference winning streak.

Katey Thompson posed 19 kills and 11 blocks as the Gauchos (8-8, 3-1 Big West) went on a 5-1 run in the fifth set to take the victory. Ali Spindt compiled 12 kills and 17 digs, and Leah Sully added a match-high 22 digs.

Emily Hartong led the way with 20 kills for UH (15-2, 4-1), which hit only .111.

Hawaii, which hadn’t suffered a league loss since it was a member of the Western Athletic Conference in 2008, will look to get back to its winning ways at 7 p.m. Saturday against Cal Poly (OC16).
