Honokaa High School Natural Resources Pathway Core students recently participated at a U.S. Forestry Climate Change, Phenology and Citizen Science event at Hakalau Wildlife National Refuge on Mana Road.
“The past few days was an amazing experience, being able to know that I left my mark on our native forest and helped restore it was great,” said student Kamele Sanchez. “Also, how many other people can say that they held an iiwi in their hand? The instructors were exemplary, the knowledge they shared really hit our hearts, and left us eager to take action and learn more so we can conserve our aina.”
