Kona Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons meets Wednesday at the Kona Masonic Center, 73-5577 Kauhola St., No. 7, Kailua-Kona. Dinner begins at 6 and the meeting at 7 p.m. Dessert follows the meeting.

The Kona Suicide Prevention Task Force meets from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at West Hawaii Community Health Center.

Support group offers help for the blind
Michelle Lee will discuss Hawaii Disability Rights Center’s Client Assistance Program at the National Federation of the Blind West Hawaii chapter’s meeting slated for 10 a.m. Thursday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona.
The organization meets the first Thursday of the month to share information about available technology, resources and coping tricks and techniques for people with low vision or blindness.

HPA initiates community book club
The Hawaii Preparatory Academy Community Book Club will hold its first meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Dyer Memorial Library, upper campus in Waimea.
Librarian Lois Inman and English teacher Jaime Johnson will lead the group. The current book selection is “The Age of Miracles” by Karen Thompson Walker.
The next book club meeting will be Dec. 4 to discuss “Beautiful Ruins” by Jess Walters.
Meetings are free and open to the public. Participants are invited to bring a snack to share.

Cancer support group meeting Thursday
Cancer support group You’ll Never Walk Alone meets from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Cancer survivors and co-survivors may attend the group’s free meetings held the first and third Thursdays of the month. Light refreshments are served.

Disability advocate comes to West Hawaii
A Hawaii Disability Rights Center advocate will meet with disabled residents from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Office of Aging in the West Hawaii Civic Center.
