Grace Correa Carter, 96, of Hilo, died Sept. 13, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 30, 1917, in Hilo, she was a housewife, a catechism teacher and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha, Alahui Kaahumanu and Puueo Kumiai.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Sept. 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. celebration of life and a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua section. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by sons, David (Bernie Gomes) Carter of Kona, Morty (Gayle) Carter of Hilo; brother, James Correa of Hilo; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Beatrice Sugai

Beatrice Ann “Annie” Sugai, 89, of Keaukaha died Sept. 10, 2013, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Dec. 16, 1923, in Napoopoo, she was retired from Hawaiian Linen Supply and member of Ke Kilohana O Ka Malamalama, Hawaiian Bowling League and Hilo High School Bowling Boosters.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Sept. 26 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Committal service will be held at noon Sept. 27 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Eldridge Foronda

Eldridge Ulivas Foronda, 92, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 1, 2013, at Queen’s Medical Center. Born April 9, 1931, in Buguey Cagayan, Philippines, he was a maintenance worker at Royal Kona Resort, a real estate agent, past president of the Ilocano Club of Hawaii, past president of the Filipino Organization of Kona and member of Kona Lions Club and St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Sept. 27 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

Gordon Wayne Kamauoha, 56, of Hilo died Sept. 19, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo.

Kwai Wah Lee, 86, of Keaukaha died Aug. 25, 2013, at his home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired foreman at the former Wailoa Tire & Recapping Co., a dispatcher/safety representative at the former HT & T Trucking Co., former president of Keaukaha Community Association, member of the Kaloko-Honokohau Study Advisory Commission and Haili Congregational Church and Kuhio Chapel and a historian of Ahahui O Opukahaia.

Daniel “Tani” Victorino Jr., 85, of Hilo died Sept. 6, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Kurtistown, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the former Puna Sugar Co. and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Russell Batalona

Russell Batalona, 50, of Paauilo died Sept. 12, 2013, at his residence. Born March 21, 1963, in Honokaa, he was a security guard for the state government and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

John Yin Wo Ching, 74, of Hawi died Sept. 15, 2013, at his residence. Born in Kohala, he was a certified welder, heavy equipment operator, rancher, member of the Iron Workers Union Local 625 and a Navy veteran.

Marilyn Judith Espiritu Moser, 68, of Hoapuloa, South Kona, Hawaii, died Sept. 17, 2013, at her residence. Born April 13, 1945, in Pahala, she was an inventory control manager at Kmart and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ka‘u Ward.

Larry Isao Tanabe, 67, of Hilo died Sept. 15, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 20, 1945, in Honolulu, he was a retired clerk for the Hilo Post Office and member of Waiakea Uka Bible Church.

Laurel “Russ” Russell Tisdel Jr., 70, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 3, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 21, 1943, in Seattle, he was a retired chief engineer for Crawley Marine and member of Inland Boaters Union.
