Leia Rachel Morales, 16, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 12. Born April 1, 1997, in Vancouver, Wash., she was a student at Kealakehe High School.

Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 19 at A Hui Hou Crematory & Funeral Home in Kailua-Kona. Friends may also call at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at the beach at Pine Trees for a celebration of her life.

She is survived by mother, Sarah Miller of Kailua-Kona; father, Julio (Alisha Westmoreland) Morales of Vancouver, Wash.; brothers, Hector Morales of Vancouver, Wash., Aidan Miller of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Alora Miller of Kailua-Kona; Melinah Morales of Vancouver, Wash.; grandmothers, Amelia Morales and Jody Day, both of Vancouver, Wash.; grandfathers, Joseph Turpin of Hilo, Richard Day of Camas, Wash.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

George Fujino

George Akira Fujino, 78, of Captain Cook died Sept. 4, 2013, in Honolulu. Born June 18, 1935, in Captain Cook, he was a self-employed businessman and a retired farmer.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Sept. 21 at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple for a 5 p.m. service.

He is survived by wife, Setsuyo Fujino; daughter, Gina (Brian) Yasuda, daughter, Dara (Aaron) Uemura; sister, Carole Murobayashi; and five grandchildren.

Josephine Kailikini

Josephine Kealamaili Kailikini, 53, of Hilo died Sept. 9, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center.

Born in Hilo, she was a flagger for Aloha Security Inc. and a member of Ke Kilohana O Ka Malamalama.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Sept. 21, at Ke Kilohana O Ka Malamalama in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Cremation will follow. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by companion, Glenn Kondo of Hilo; son, Michael (Cheryl Shitabata) Kailikini of Hilo; brothers, Joseph Kailikini Jr. of Hilo, Kevin Kailikini of Illinois, Cedric Kailikini of Hilo; sisters, Harriet Mamone of Hilo, Ettatani Kailikini of Kailua-Kona, Theresa Gomes of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Aileen Newman

Aileen Miriam Newman, 95, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 7 at her home. Born March 14, 1918, in Chicago, she was retired from Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, Calif. She was a member of Kona Bridge Club and involved with Kona Arts Center.

Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96745.

She is survived by son, Dan Newman; daughter, Bridey Newman; granddaughter, Artemis Smith all of San Francisco; and hanai daughter, JoLynn Sorenson of Kailua-Kona.

Marylee Crowley

Marylee Crowley, 69, of Naalehu died Sept. 10, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 24, 1943, in New York, she was a retired bookkeeper.

She is survived by daughter, Ana Gray of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Sy Rose

Sy Allen Rose, 67, of Kurtistown, died Sept. 10, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 7, 1946, in San Diego, he was a retired salesman.

No service times were provided.

He is survived by sons, Michael (Krystin) Rose of Portland, Ore., Richard Rose of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.
