A female giraffe born at Como Zoo in St. Paul, Minn., just a week ago made her public debut Sunday. The as-yet unnamed giraffe, weighed 130 pounds and was 5 feet 8 inches tall at birth. It’s her mother, Clover’s fifth calf and the 17th giraffe born at Como in the last 20 years. Giraffe gestation lasts between 14 and 15 months. The baby’s height will double in the next two years. Like human fingerprints, the markings on a giraffe’s coat are unique to each animal. Jeff Wheeler/The Star Tribune
