Julia “Mrs. T” Rapoza Toledo, 89, of Ninole died Aug. 23, 2013, at a residence. Born Nov. 14, 1923, in Captain Cook, she was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Aug. 31 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for memorial services. The family requests casual attire be worn. In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, donations may be made to Hospice of Hilo, 1011 Waianuenue Ave., Hilo, HI 96720. An urn committal will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 3 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1.
She is survived by daughter, Juliet Perreira of Honokaa; sons, Richard (Joan) Toledo Jr. and Roger (Elizabeth) Toledo of Hilo; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kimie “Kay” Masuda, 90, of Captain Cook died Aug. 9, 2013, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born March 23, 1923, in Holualoa, she was the succeeding owner of the former Kamei Laundry. She was a member of Kona Daifukuji Soto Mission, Akitsu Kumiai, Kona Fukuoka Kenjin Kai, Kumamoto Kenjin Kai and Kona Regional Senior Citizens.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. Aug. 31 at Kona Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo for a 4 p.m. memorial service. The family requests casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

Evelyn Kalani Hui, 73, of Waimea died July 30, 2013, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born January 21, 1940 in North Kohala, she was a retired pantry/food prep cook for Mauna Lani Bay Resort and Bungalows, the Mauna Lani Orchid and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.
A celebration of life will be held 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28 at Spencer Beach Park pavilion. The family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by daughters, Bernette (John) Collo of Waimea, Camilla Mahuna of Waimea, Dorothy (Gary) Souza of Kawaihae; son, Campbell Hui Jr. of Waimea; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Tai Young Chung, 83, of Hilo, died Aug. 5, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 6, 1930, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a business owner and a retired engineer for the county Department of Water Supply.

He is survived by wife, Myrtle Chung; daughter, Siara (Roger) Acdal; sister, Ruth (Haruo) Shigezawa; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Yoshikazu Yamasaki
Yoshikazu “Ally” Yamasaki, 88, of Pepeekeo, died Aug. 9, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born April 4, 1925, in Hilo, he was a retired cane truck driver at Mauna Kea Sugar Co. and a member of the Honomu Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.
Private services were held. The family requests no flowers or monetary offerings.
He is survived by brothers, Roger (Margaret) Yamasaki of Kaneohe and Harry (Rosita) Yamasaki of Pepeekeo; sisters, Mutsue Okahara of Hilo, Alice Hayashi of Honolulu, and Yoshie (Henry) Aoki of Cerritos, Calif.; numerous nephews and nieces.

Adriaan van Sluis
Adriaan van Sluis, 99, of Kawaihae died July 13, 2013, at his home. Born April 25, 1914, in Salatiga, Indonesia, he was a retired engineer and designed bridges in the Indonesian islands. He served with the allied forces in World War II and was interred for six years.
Private services were held.
He is survived by wife, Sonya van Sluis of Kawaihae; sons, Robert (Gail Armand) van Sluis of Kawaihae, Jeffrey (Sharon) Van Sluis of Rancho Santa Margarita, David (Priscilla) Van Sluis of Vancouver, Wash., Mona (Frank) Kennedy of Syracuse, N.Y., Nancy (Jeff) Womack of Las Vegas, 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
