Hazel Aoyagi
Hazel Ayako Aoyagi, 91, of Captain Cook died Aug. 16, 2013, in Life Care Center of Kona. Born May 27, 1922, in Hilo, 1922, she retired as a bookkeeper for State Auto Parts and was a member of Kona Business Professional Women’s Club, Hiroshima Kenjin Kai, Kona Fukuoka Kenjin Kai, Kona Hongwanji, Keei Makai Kumi and Keei Buddhist Church.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Aug. 31 at Kona Hongwanji Mission in Kealakekua for an 11 a.m. memorial service. The family requests casual attire and flowers be omitted.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Earl) Matsuyama of Kealakekua and Sharon (Albert) Langsi of Honaunau; brother, Kazumi (Jane) Muraki of California; sister, Helena Muraki of Honoluu; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joseph Kamoku
Joseph “Tut” Keheana Kamoku, Jr., 57, of Kailua-Kona died July 22, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 17, 1955, in Kealakekua, he was a musical entertainer with the group Aloha Aina and entertained at the former Kona Hilton and Keauhou Beach hotels as well as other popular venues in the Kona area.
Friends may call at 2 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Kahaluu Beach Park’s large pavilion for a celebration of his life. The family requests casual attire worn and loose flowers are welcome.
He is survived by his companion, Joannavi Medeiros of Kailua-Kona; sister, Gwen (Jim) Garber of Kailua-Kona; brother, Paul Kamoku of Kailua-Kona; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Maxmin Kanuha
Maxmin Pio Kanuha, 53, of Waimea died Aug. 3, 2013 at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born March 26, 1960, in Kona, he was a construction laborer and also worked as a yardman and house cleaner. He was a member of the Waimea Door of Faith Church and former member of the Kawaihae Canoe Club.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 31 at the Waimea Door of Faith Church for a 10 a.m. memorial service with burial to follow in the Waimea County Cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn, and flowers are welcome.
He is survived by his mother, Molly Waikiki of Waimea; sisters, Stephanie Lopes and Faye (Robert) Kanuha Godsey, both of Waimea, Diane Akau Waikiki of Nankuli, Oahu; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Esther K. Kekuna
Esther K. Kekuna, 87, of Hilo died at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama facility on Aug. 19, 2013. She was born in Kealakekua and was a retired licensed practical nurse with the former Hilo Hospital. She was also a member of the Kamana Senior Citizens. Friends may call at the Dodo Mortuary chapel on Aug. 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., where a Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by urn committal at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. The family requests that casual attire be worn to the services and that any monetary offerings made by check please be made out to “CASH.” She is survived by her: sons, Earl Kekuna of Honolulu and Lucas Kekuna, Jr. of Hilo; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

George A. Moore
George A. Moore, 60, of Hilo died at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama facility on Aug. 17, 2013. He was born in Honolulu and was a Child Support Enforcement Agency Supervisor with the State of Hawaii. He was also a member of the High Priest Quorum of the Ainaola Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and of the Hawaii Government Employees Association. Friends may call at the Ponahawai Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Aug. 31, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., where a funeral service will be held at noon, followed by burial at the Alae Cemetery. The family requests that casual attire be worn. He is survived by his: son, Kragan Moore of Hilo; daughter, Krystal Moore of Hilo; sister, Vicki (Christopher) Singh of Sacramento, Calif.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Julia Rosekrans
Dr. Julia Anne Rosekrans 67, of Captain Cook died on Aug. 17, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 1, 1945 in Greene, New York, she moved to Hawaii in 2005 after retiring from medicine. She was a pediatric emergency physician who practiced in Boston, Miami, Scotland, Binghamton, N.Y., Ithaca and Rochester, Minn., formerly served as assistant professor of pediatrics at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and as a consultant with the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Mayo Clinic. She was active in hula, Hawaiian language studies and music studies (ukulele) as well as book design and DVD production for Na Wai Iwi Ola Foundation, founding member of Unitarian Universalists of West Hawaii and member of Aloha Quilters.
Friends may call at noon on Aug. 31 at Kona Outdoor Circle. Service at 12:30 p.m. A beach celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at Pu’uhonua O Honaunau. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Lodge Hawaii by visiting the hopelodgehawaii.org.
She is survived by husband, Alvis Upitis of Captain Cook; mother, Mary Emma Rosekrans of Parkland, Fla.; son, Zachary (Ann) Perlman of New York City; daughter, Laura (Andy) Scott of Winston-Salem, N.C.; stepson, Dris Upitis of Dallas ; stepdaughter, Alise (Ben Macri) Upitis of Boston; brother, John (Theresa) Rosekrans of Binghamton, N.Y.; sister, Joanna (Charles) Elmore of Windham, N.H.; hanai sister, Mary Irene (Panos) Katsibas of Charleston, S.C.; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Yoshikazu “Ally” Yamasaki
Yoshikazu “Ally” Yamasaki, age 88, of Pepeekeo died Aug. 9, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born in Hilo on April 4, 1925, and was retired from the former Mauna Kea Sugar Company as a cane truck driver. He was a member of the Honomu Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Private services were held. No flowers. No koden (monetary offerings). He is survived by brothers, Roger (Margaret) Yamasaki of Kaneohe, Oahu, and Harry (Rosita) Yamasaki of Pepeekeo; sisters, Mutsue Okahara of Hilo, Alice Hayashi of Honolulu, and Yoshie (Henry) Aoki of Cerritos, Calif.; brother-in-law, Satoshi Ojiri of Hilo; numerous nephews and nieces.
