William Takata
William Haruo Takata, 84, of Hilo, died July 23, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he worked at the former Hakalau Plantation, a Korean War U.S. Army and former employee of E.E. Black Construction, the former I. Kitagawa & Co., Bert’s Autobody, and the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel and KTA Superstores.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. Aug. 24 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire be worn and that flowers be omitted.
He is survived by stepson, Wayne Wagatsuma of Hilo; brother, Howard Takata of Gardena, Calif.; sister, Janet Van Cleef of Long Beach, Calif.; one grandson, one granddaughter, five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Marshall Okuno
Marshall Sadao Okuno, 60, of Hilo, died Aug. 5, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 17, 1952, in Hilo, he was a wastewater operations supervisor with Hawaii County’s Department of Environmental Management and member of Piihonua Community Association and Big Island Golf Club.
Friends may call at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by son, Matt Okuno, of Hilo; mother, Amy Okuno, of Kealakekua; sister, Marleen Okuno, of Kealakekua; companion, Debbie Takehiro Ombac, of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Enid Scratch
Enid Annie Scratch, 99, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 18, 2013. Born Feb. 23, 1914, in Wales, U.K., she was a missionary for YWAM/University of the Nations, and member of the Central Kona Union Church.
Friends may call at 2 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Chapel at Palm Terrace of A Hui Hou Crematory and Funeral Home for a service. Friends may also call at 6:30 p.m. at the University of the Nations Ohana Court for a service. She will be buried at the Central Kona Union Church Cemetery in Kealakekua.
She is survived by daughter, Darlene (Loren) Cunningham of Kailua-Kona; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Irene Van Hook
Irene Helen Van Hook, 88, of Waikoloa, died Aug. 15, 2013, at her residence. Born Oct. 29, 1924 in St. Paul, Minn., she was a retired savings and loan officer and member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 25 at Kona Christian Fellowship in Kailua-Kona for a service. A potluck will follow.
She is survived by daughter, Barbara Roesch of Waikoloa; great-grandsons, Dylan Brezil, Evan Brezil and Lucian Brezil all of Portland, Ore.
