Bertha “Roberta” “Bert” Hunt, 77, of Pahoa died Aug. 3, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 9, 1935, in Kapoho, she was a self-employed noni farmer and member of the Opihikao Congregational Church.

Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 16 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Simeon Enriquez Jr. of Pahoa; daughters, Lynn (Norman) Palacat of Pahoa, Charlene (Tim) Ishikuro of Honokaa; brothers, Richard Veloria and Jerry (Dolly) Veloria, both of Keaau, Earl (Audrey) Veloria of Kohala, Roy (Karen) Veloria of Hilo; sisters, Beatrice (Gary) Rothfus of Honomu, Cynthia (Archie) Kekuawela and Hana Pau, both of Keaau, Audrey (Stephen) Correa of Pahoa, Eunice Mulec of Opihikao; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Marjory Young

Marjory Leinani “Nani” “Popo” Young, 77, of Hilo died July 30, 2013, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Nov. 30, 1935, in Honolulu, she was a retired preschool teacher for The Children’s House in Pacific Palisades, Pearl City, Oahu.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by sons, Dave (Marlene Sherman) Young, Guy (Rhonda) Young; daughter, A. Iwalani (Kyle Kelii) Harris; brothers, Edward (Nancy) Kini, Harry (Pat) Aki, Bobby (Lana) Kini, Edwin (Mona) Kini; sisters, Harriet Paishon, Pua Kini; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Faye Hudman

Faye Aloha Hudman, 55, of Keaukaha died Aug. 5, 2013, at her home. Born March 12, 1958, in Hilo, she was a certified nurse aide for Hospice of Hilo and member of Halau Hula O Napunaheleonapuna of Keaau and Keaukaha Canoe Club.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Alvin Inoue

Alvin Sueo Inoue, 62, of Hilo died July 23, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Hilo branch manager with the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Unemployment Division and member of the Kuikahi Senior Softball Team and HGEA Bowling League.

Masao Tokihiro

Masao Tokihiro, 85, died July 17, 2013, in Los Angeles. He was born in Hilo.

He is survived by wife, Kiyoko Tokihiro; son, Robert Gates; daughters, LaVerne (Sydney) Merrill, Linda Gates, Diane (Bruce) Gates-Hawkins, Darlene Gates, Karen ( Dwight Kanae) Gates, Lei (Guy)Barrett; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; other family members.

Hanae Uyeda

Hanae Helen Uyeda, 93, of Hilo died Aug. 3, 2013, at home. Born on Oahu, she was a retired hotel housekeeper and member of New Hope Christian Fellowship-Hamakua, New Hope Christian Fellowship-Hilo and Pomaikai Senior Citizens and a volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 17 at New Hope Christian Fellowship-Gathering Place in Hilo for a 10 a.m. celebration of life. Private scattering of ashes will be held in the afternoon. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by sons, Kennard (Joi) Uyeda of Texas, Harold (Susan) Uyeda of Kauai; daughter, Beatrice (Lawrence) Miyasato of Hilo; brothers, Saichi Fukutani and Masaru (Mabel) Fukutani, both of Honolulu, Hisao Fukutani of Maui, Yoshimi (Lillian) Fukutani of California; sister, Florence (Jitsuo) Yamamoto of Maui; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles Batista

Charles Batista, 65, died Aug. 10, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 25, 1948, in New York, he was a multimedia artist and a Vietnam War veteran.

Donna Cowpland

Donna Marion Cowpland, 84, of Papaikou died Aug. 4, 2013, at her residence. Born May 4, 1929, in Ishpeming, Mich., she was a retired nurse for Medic Home in Florida and member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hilo and founding member of The Grand Knitters.

Richard Bryant

Richard Aaron Bryant, 74, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 7, 2013, at his residence. Born Dec. 18, 1938, in Detroit, he was co-owner of Double Dare Inc.

He is survived by wife, Sheryl Bryant of Kailua-Kona; sons, Scott Bryant of Portland, Ore., Rhett Bryant of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Lori McGuire of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Lisa Tackett of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Lillian (Larry) Freese and Linda (Lenny) Pardue, both of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Masaharu Kuramoto

Masaharu Kuramoto, 88, of Hilo died July 29, 2013, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired journeyman printer for Hawaii Tribune Herald and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

He is survived by wife, Ruth Kuramoto of Hilo; son, Keith Kuramoto of Hilo; daughter, Ila (Ross) Langner of San Jose, Calif.; sisters, Sachiko Nishioka and Fujiko Motobu, both of Honolulu; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris Yuriko Scheetz, 78, of Santa Rosa, Calif., died Aug. 8, 2013, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born March 24, 1935, on Molokai, she was a registered nurse and member of the Ikebana International in San Francisco, Calif.
