The Kailua-Kona Seniors meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. Bev Aikele will conduct a workshop on biography writing.

Soil, water district meeting Wednesday

The Mauna Kea Soil and Water Conservation District meets from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Natural Resources Conserv-ation Service’s Waimea center, 67-1185 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite 148.

Cancer support group meets Thursday

Cancer support group You’ll Never Walk Alone meets from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Cancer survivors and co-survivors are invited to attend the group’s free meetings held the first and third Thursday of the month; light refreshments are served.

AdvoCats meeting Saturday morning

AdvoCats will hold a general meeting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kona United Methodist Church on Palani Road. AdvoCats is a trap-neuter-release organization, committed to solving the homeless cat problem in a humane way. Clinics and upcoming events will be discussed. Bring ink cartridges for recycling.

Ocean View church plans festival

Ocean View Evangelical Community Church will host “Ocean View Hoolaulea Luau for God, by God” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 92-8977 Leilani Circle. The alcohol- and drug-free event includes free food, while supplies last, door prizes, games and prizes for children, a jumping castle and a prayer booth.
