Beverley “Aunty Bev” Ann Leiko Arai, 79, of Holualoa died July 29, 2013, at her caregiver’s residence. Born July 17, 1934, in Pahala, she retired as a teacher at Konawaena Elementary School. She was also a member of Daifukuji Soto Mission, Daifukuji Fujin Kai, Teacher’s Bowling League and the Halulu Fishing Gang.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. Aug. 10 at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo for a 5 p.m. memorial service. The family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
She is survived by son, Carlton Arai of Holualoa; daughter, Mona (Mike Bean) Arai of Holualoa; and a granddaughter.

Emma Ibea Hoffmann, 54, of Honokaa died July 11, 2013, at the North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born March 13, 1959, in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a housekeeper for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and a member of the Annunciation and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic churches.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. Aug. 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 7 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. Aug. 3 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn and flowers are welcome.
She is survived by husband, Steven Hoffmann of Honokaa; brothers, Felix (Elena) Agdeppa, Fred (Sherry) Agdeppa, all of Honokaa; sister, Teresita Hostallero of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Grace Kaiawe
Grace Eiko Kaiawe, 80, of Captain Cook died June 24, 2013, at her residence. Born Aug. 21, 1932, in Kainaliu, she was a tour conductor for Jack’s Tours and Roberts Hawaii’s Japanese groups, office manager for DK Trucking and clerk at the Police Department in Captain Cook. She was a member of the Kona Daifukuji Orchid Club, American Orchid Society and Kingsley Kumiai.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 10 at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa’s Convention Center, where a celebration of life begins at 11 a.m. The family requests aloha attire be worn.
She is survived by sons, Richard (Johnnalyn) Kaiawe, Dwight (Charli) Kaiawe, all of Kealakekua, Dean Kaiawe of Captain Cook; daughter, Lani Ng of Kealakekua; sisters, May Oekawa of Mililani, Oahu, Gertrude Go of Honolulu; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carol Moana Spinney, 72, of Ocean View died June 17, 2013, at the Queen’s Medical Center. Born Jan. 21, 1941, in Honolulu, she was a housewife.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 4 at Kahaluu Beach Park’s main pavilion, followed by a potluck. The family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
