Aloha Performing Arts Company will hold auditions for its season opener, Mel Brooks’ musical comedy “Young Frankenstein,” Sunday through Tuesday.
Open auditions are planned at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu beginning at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. Monday, with a possible callback audition at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Those auditioning will be seen in small groups in order of arrival. Each group will read from the script and learn to sing a snippet of music from the show, which will also be the basis for the short choreography portion of the audition. The singing and dancing will be done as a group, then individually. Comfortable, modest clothing and closed-toe shoes are recommended.
All roles are available, including Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, The Monster, Igor, Inga, Elizabeth Benning, Frau Blucher, Inspector Hans Kemp, The Hermit, Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein, and Ziggy. In addition, an ensemble is sought to play gravediggers, villagers, medical students, passengers and mad scientists. Rehearsals will begin Aug. 11 and generally be held Monday through Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Performances are planned weekends, Oct. 4 through 27. All cast members must be available for rehearsals with minimal conflicts, and must commit to the entire performance schedule.
Jerry Tracy will direct the production, with musical direction by Dale Ross, vocal direction by Francine Alexander, and choreography by Lance Oliver. Producers are Ken Ross and Peter Schonberg. For more information, call 322-9924.
