Tuesday’s special County Council Public Safety and Mass Transit meeting to discuss Bill 79, prohibiting genetically modified foods, has been canceled, County Clerk Stewart Maeda said this morning.

The meeting was a continuation of an earlier hearing on the bill, which attracted significant public testimony. The clerk and Council Chairman J Yoshimoto decided to cancel Tuesday’s meeting because of concerns relating to potential impacts from Tropical Storm Flossie.

A new date and time for the meeting will be announced by Friday, Maeda said.
