Daifukuji orchid club show slated Sunday

The 31st annual Kona Daifukuji Orchid Club show and sale is slated from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Daifukuji Soto Mission Hall in Honalo. The show, “A Rainbow of Orchids,” will feature an elaborate indoor display of blooming orchids showcasing the many colors found in numerous hybrids. A collection of United States Postal Service orchid stamps and colorful orchid badges from clubs across the nation will also be displayed.

A collection of United States Postal Service orchid stamps and colorful orchid badges from clubs across the nation will also be displayed.

Attendees are invited to view the Orchid Grotto on the grounds of the mission, completed by club volunteers and recently named a 2013 Landscape & Beautification Award winner by Scenic Hawaii.

Attendees will receive an orchid boutonniere corsage, while supplies last. Club members will field questions and offer expert advice on caring for orchids. Harpist Bonne Mitchell will serenade attendees in the morning and the Daifukuji Taiko drummers will perform at 10 a.m. in the parking lot.
