Yoshitaka Yano
Yoshitaka “Yoshi” Yano, 85, of Kealakekua, died July 10, 2013 at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 2, 1928, in Kealakekua, he was a retired supervisor for the state Department of Vector Control and a coffee farmer. He was also a member of Kanaueue Kumiai, Kona Ongaku Dan, Kumamoto Kenjin Kai and Central Kona Union Church.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. July 27 at Central Kona Union Church in Kealakekua. The service begins at 11 a.m.
Yoshi is survived by wife, Laura Sawako Yano of Kealakekua; daughters, Jocelyn (Clyde) Sakata of Holualoa, LuAnn (Jonathan) Flores of Rescue, Calif.; son, Brad (Sena) Yano of Honolulu; grandson, Joshua Flores of Rescue, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold Manago
Harold Haruto Manago, 94, of Captain Cook died July 6, 2013 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 28, 1919, in Kealakekua, he was a retired manager and former owner of the Manago Hotel. He was a member of Kona Hongwanji Mission, Hanei Kumi, a former member of the Kona Lions Club, was on the Board of Education, School Advisory Council, board and committee member of the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union, and a U.S. Army WWII veteran.
Friends may call at 1:30 p.m. July 26 at the Kona Hongwanji Mission in Kealakekua for a 3 p.m. memorial service. The family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by sons, Merwyn (Ellen) Manago of Honolulu, Randall Manago, Dwight (Cheryl) Manago, all of Captain Cook; daughters, Elaine (Ronald) Katahara of Honolulu, Sherre (Ronald) Belany of Maui; brothers, Harry Manago, Takashi Manago, Isamu (Amy) Manago, all of Honolulu, Jay (Beatrice) Manago of Captain Cook, Pentson (Toshi) Sugamura of Seattle; 14 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kevin Koehler
Kevin Adam Koehler, 53, of Kailua-Kona, died July 21, 2013 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 20, 1959, in Chicago, he was a handyman, former decorated U.S. Air Force Sergeant and former Batavia, Ill., firefighter.
A private service was held. Memorial donations may be made to Alahou Clean & Sober, 75-5708 Alahou Street, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.
He is survived by father, Paul Koehler; sister, Robin (Ken Key) Koehler all of Kailua-Kona; sons, Erich Koehler, Nicholas Koehler, Zachary Koehler; grandchildren, Eevie Koehler and Aaron Koehler all of Illinois.

Petra Fernandez
Petra Gorospe Fernandez, 77, of Ainaloa, died July 8, 2013 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 18, 1936, in Darao San Juan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was employed at the former Mauna Loa MacNut Corporation in Keaau and also at Puna Certified Nursery. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. July 26 for visitation at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, with a 7 p.m. wake service.
Friends may call at 11 a.m. July 27 for visitation and celebration of Mass at noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family requests casual attire be worn. Burial will be at Alae Cemetery.
She is survived by husband, Celestino Fernandez of Pahoa; daughter, Janeth G. Fernandez of Pahoa; sons, Edison (Lovely) Fernandez and Errol (Josie) Fernandez of Keaau, Marlon (Gemma) Fernandez of Kurtistown; brother, Juan (Lourdes) Gorospe of Keaau; sister, Marylou G. Rabena of Mountain View; 16 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Oliverine Moore
Oliverine Mapuana “Sista” Moore, 57, of Hilo, died July 10, 2013, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, she was a food service worker with Kamehameha Schools and a member of the Ainaola Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. July 26 at the Hilo Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where a noon funeral service will be held, followed by burial at the Alae Cemetery. The family requests that casual attire be worn to the services.
She is survived by her husband, George Moore of Hilo; son, Kragan Moore of Hilo; daughter, Krystal Moore of Hilo; brothers, Graylaine Hanoa of Puna, and Robert Hanoa of Kahului, Maui; hanai brother, Oliver Shimaoka of Hilo; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Doreen Johnson
Doreen Joyce Johnson, 68, of Hilo, died July 12, 2013, at home. Born Jan. 17, 1945, in Hilo, she was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Hilo and a longtime employee of Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel in various departments; from housekeeping, as a waitress to its kitchen and restaurant manager.
She retired as the Hilo Bay Hotel Gift Shop Manager.
Friends may call from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. July 27 at the Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, 326 Desha Ave., Keaukaha, to be followed by an 11 a.m. Memorial Mass. A private urn committal is planned for a later date.
She is survived by son, Jason (Carol Malina) Johnson of Hilo; sisters; Marlene (Pio) Miprano and Charlene Medeiros of Hilo; two grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and uncle.

Erica Perreira
Erica Glenna Perreira, 61, of Hilo, died July 3, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 9, 1951, in Hilo.

She is survived by brothers, Jeff (Nell) Perreira of Honolulu, and Doug (Susan) Perreira of Reno, Nev.; two nephews and a niece.

Howard Keith Salmo
Howard Keith Salmo, 54, of Kailua-Kona, died July 4, 2013, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu.
Born Dec. 29, 1958, in Pahala, he was a maintenance mechanic for the Pohakuloa Military Training Area’s Department of Public Works, and worked for Mauna Loa Macadamia Orchards, Limited Partnership and Kukio. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Friends may call for a 7 to 9 a.m. visition July 27 at the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with a 10 a.m. celebration of Mass. Cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary.
The family requests casual attire be worn.
