Emma Carpio
Emma Carpio, 76, of Kapaau, died July 12, 2013, at her residence. Born in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, Philippines, she was employed at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Island Harvest, member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi and Kohala Kumiai.
An all-night vigil will take place at the family home, 54-367 Union Mill Road, Kapaau, from 4 p.m. on July 19. Visitation will continue 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. July 20 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi, followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Hawi County Cemetery. The family requests casual attire.
She is survived by husband, Casimiro Carpio of Kohala; sons, Albert Carpio of Texas, Jose (Shirley) Carpio of Waimea; daughters, Lucila (Gary) Rositano of San Francisco, Leila (Patrick) Kehoe of Oregon, Catherine (Randy) Furukado of Kohala; sister, Felina Llapitan of Honolulu; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Gavino Raniada
Gavino Perez Raniada, 97, of Hilo, died June 18, 2013, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born on March 17, 1916, in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he retired from the former Puna Sugar Company as a crane operator and also worked at the Hilo International Airport as a custodian. He also was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Friends may call 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 20 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for visitation, followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire and no flowers; burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park (Lehua Section).
He is survived by daughter, Lottie (Pete) Haspe of Hilo; son, Perfecto “Ping” Raniada of Hilo; sister, Maria Raniada Catriz and Susana “Saning” Payuyo of Philippines; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Timothy Bragalone
Timothy “Tim” John Bragalone, 45, of Kailua-Kona died July 8, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born February 5, 1968, in Honolulu, he was the owner of Tim’s Air Conditioning & Refrigeration. He was also a member of American Pool Association and West Hawaii Men’s Pool League.
A service will be held at a later date.
He is survived by wife, Jo Ann Bragalone of Kailua-Kona; mother, Stephanie Bragalone of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Tony (Shari) Bragalone, James (Theresa) Bragalone, all of Holualoa; daughter, Charmine (Charlie) Reyes; sons, Jensen (Christie) Reyes, Charsen Reyes, all of Kauai; hanai sister, Colleen (Bill) Gundaker of Ka’u; five grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Alice Kapahu
Alice Kapahu, 89, of Hilo, died July 4, 2013, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Paauilo, she retired as a floral packer for Island Tropical.
Private services were held.
She is survived by her son Joseph (Wanda) Kapahu of Hilo; brother in law Carroll (Cindy) Kapahu of Honolulu; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.

Albert Miller
Albert E. Miller, 99, of Keauhou, died June 16, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Dec. 11, 1913 in Lacona, Iowa, he served in the Pacific during World War II with the U.S. Navy Seabees. He worked as a car salesman in Los Angeles California.
No public services will be held.
He is survived by his son, James Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation by West Hawaii Cremation.
Douglas Strom
Douglas “Doug” Stephen Strom, 71, of Captain Cook died June 9, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born March 27, 1942, in Chicago, he was a tropical fruit farmer, a land developer and a member of Rissho Kosei Kai Church.
No services will be held.
He is survived by his companion, Jo Ann Hiroshige of Captain Cook; hanai sons, Kenji Nulman of Albany, N.Y. and Lonnie Nulman of Albany, Ore.; hanai daughter, Sharon Akamu of Discovery Harbor; brother, Greg Strom of Florida; sister, Donnie Blackburn of Florida; and three hanai grandchildren.
