Water shutoff in parts of South Kona Thursday

Water shutoff in parts of South Kona Thursday

Water will temporarily be turned off Thursday along Napoopoo Road and Puuhonua Junction in South Kona to install a new water line connection for the Kamehameha Schools — Keei Meter Installation, according to the Department of Water Supply.

The water shut-off will occur between 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The affected area includes Manini Beach, Kahauloa Road and Keei Beach Lots.

Upon the resumption of water service, the water lines will be flushed and cleaned. Turbid or discolored water may be noticed. Customers may also notice trapped air in their plumbing, which will be released as you initially use water.

Affected customers are asked to take any and all precautions necessary to protect their property and facilities, including, but not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps or any other devices whose normal operation may be dependent on water pressure or water supply, and which might be harmed if automatically energized during the water shut-off.
