I agree wholeheartedly with the letter written by Alice Hughes. I have repeatedly said how I feel about the aquarium fish trade and how the Department of Land and Natural Resources have not been actively enforcing the ban.

Enforce the ban
to protect the fish

I agree wholeheartedly with the letter written by Alice Hughes. I have repeatedly said how I feel about the aquarium fish trade and how the Department of Land and Natural Resources have not been actively enforcing the ban.

Scuba spearfishing is one of the most unsportmanly means of catching fish. They sleep at night and to spear them while they are resting is the most cruel and inhumane thing the spearfishermen can do. It’s the same with the fish collectors.

I think we definitely need the help of the airlines to stop carrying the fish on their flights to stop this market.

Mankind is the worst kind of creature on Earth. Why is it that we have the right to take whatever we want just because we can do it while not taking into consideration the rights of all living beings to exist on our planet in their own habitat?

It would serve us right if we end up with no fish in the sea to fish or sell and no animals on the land to appreciate for their beauty but barren wasteland and sea.

Please only shoot off fireworks during allowed time

With the sale of fireworks and the fun holiday coming up on Thursday, I need to make a plea to everyone who enjoys fireworks — please stick to the legal times to shoot off your fireworks.

A lot of us have pets who are scared of the loud pops and bangs. We are forced to drug them during these holidays, which I do not mind. But when you shoot off the fireworks from the day you purchase them to past the holiday it is not fair to the animals. We should not be forced to drug our pets for a whole week and not just the legal time allowed for fireworks. Please remember the only time you can legally shoot your fireworks is on Thursday between 1 and 9 p.m.

I will drug my dog and confine her in the house and miss all the festivities to keep her safe from panicking during the lighting of the fireworks.

Please inform your friends and neighbors of the legal time. Help save our pets from running away and having an extremely stressful day.
