A 30-year-old man escaped injury Monday morning after his tractor trailer collided with a utility pole on the Honokaa side of Waimea.

A 30-year-old man escaped injury Monday morning after his tractor trailer collided with a utility pole on the Honokaa side of Waimea.

The crash reported about 7 a.m. snarled traffic during the morning commute. A half dozen tractor trailers waited several hours before police and utility crews began contraflowing traffic around the downed utility pole southwest of Iokua Place.

The driver of the tractor trailer did not suffer any injuries in the crash, said South Kohala Police Capt. Aimee Wana.

Hawaii Electric Light Co. crews remain on scene and traffic is limited to one lane. An estimate on when work might be compete was unavailable.
