Students of all ages and artistic abilities on Friday showcased the works they’ve been working on so far in Donkey Mill Art Center’s annual Summer Art Experience.

From anatomical and imaginative drawing, painting and print making to fiber arts, origami, silk screening and dance and music, a plethora of media made by children ranging in grades from kindergarten to 12, was on display at the Holualoa nonprofit’s facility.

The Summer Art Experience, held June 10 through July 12, teaches students basic art techniques in a variety of artistic mediums.

The students are divided into groups depending on the project at hand with older students being encouraged to assist younger students in large-group settings.

Guest artists from the community — and beyond — also contribute to the summer program this year, passing on their expertise and passion to the students.

Among the guest artists this summer are Gary Eoff, Ed Kaneko, Stephen Hall, Shunko Saida, Tomoe Nimori, Setsuko Watanabe, Claire Seastone, Rene Umberger, Keiko Bonk, Che Pilago, Mike Sato, Darryl Samo, Maggie Foley, Stephanie Bolton, Debra McGee, Lindsey Lander and Andrea Lindborg. — WHT
