Akio Higa

Akio “Stan” Higa, 80, of Hilo died June 1, 2013, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired electrician for the County of Hawaii, former proprietor of Akio Higa’s Electrical Service, member of Grace Baptist Church of Hilo and a Navy veteran.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. June 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service followed by cremation. Friends may also call at noon June 18 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 for graveside urn committal services. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Mildred Higa of Hilo; eaughters, Shani (Derek Morishita) Higa and Sheri Higa, both of Hilo, Deann (Danny) Rivera of Las Vegas; brothers, Edwin Higa of Honolulu, Glenn (Haruko) Higa of Okinawa, Japan; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
