The road was closed shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to the Hawaii Police Department. A man operating a dump truck apparently lost control of the vehicle, striking parked vehicles before crashing into a tree. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials anticipate the Hawaii Electric Light Co. and other crews on the scene will open the mauka bound lane shortly, according to police.
