Kazuo Maruyama, 90, of Volcano died May 12, 2013, at his residence. Born in Captain Cook, he was a retired vegetable farmer, member of the Hilo Farm Bureau and veteran of the U.S. Army, Company K, 442nd Regimental Combat Team.

Private services were held. Interment to take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) at a later date. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifs.

He is survived by wife, Fusae Maruyama of Volcano; sons, Warren Maruyama of Sunnyvale, Calif., Wendell Maruyama of New York; daughter, Lorna (John) Festa of Kailua, Oahu; hanai daughter, Karen (Edward Herlicska) Nogami of Hilo; brothers, Hideo (Gail) Maruyama of Captain Cook, Teruo (May) Maruyama of Honolulu; sisters, Fusano Harai of Kona, Carol Hanaoka of Honolulu; a hanai granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
