Queen Kaahumanu Highway is closed following a traffic incident between mile markers 78 and 80 in the vicinity of Kiholo Bay in North Kona.
The Hawaii Police Department reported the closure about 7 p.m. The closure is expected to last several hours.
Motorists are advised to use an alternate route such as Waikoloa Road or Kaiminani Drive to reach Mamalahoa Highway.
