Kenneth Kaniho Sr.

Kenneth Kaniho Sr., 83, of Waimea died May 17, 2013, at his home. Born Jan. 27, 1930, in Waimea, he was an Army Korean War veteran, retired from the Honolulu Police Department, salesman for Shuman Carriage and Kapiolani Motors, retired from the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and partner in Kona Waste Management.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. June 1 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waimea for a 10 a.m. service. A celebration of his life follows at the Batchelder’s farm located in Puukapu Farm Lot, Waimea. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Lorraine (Akiona) Kaniho of Waimea; sons, Gary Kaniho of Albuquerque, N.M., Guy (Sheryl) Kaniho of Kona; daughters, Sharon (Pete) Peterson of Bisbee, Ariz., Blanche (Pat) Batchelder of Waimea; brothers, Thomas (Felicia) Kaniho of Ka‘u, Martin (Sharon) Kaniho of Alaska; sisters, Jane Gouvea of Kona, Kanai Tegman of Waimea; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
