Hanako Gladys Yoshimura, 97, of Hilo died May 13, 2013, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a Japanese language school teacher and retired as a preschool teacher at the Church of the Holy Apostles Day Care, a teacher for the Ohara School of Ikebana-Hilo Chapter, a recipient of the Japanese Cultural Treasure Award and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Kyodan and Fujinkai, Dana Project, Coordinated Service Companion Program, Retired Senior Volunteer Program , Hawaii Government Employees Association Retirees, Keaau Senior Citizens, Keaau Nutrition Center and the Kaumana Rise Association.

Friends may call at noon May 26 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 1 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by daughter, Betty Yoshimura of Hilo; two granddaughters; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
