Sunao “Sam” Mayeda, 78, of Hilo died April 29, 2013, in Hilo. Born Nov. 3, 1934, in Kaiwiki, he was a retired bookkeeper for the Mauna Kea Beach and Hapuna Beach Prince hotels and an Army veteran.
No services are planned. Private burial will be at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by sister, Masako Kadooka of Hilo; brothers, Melvin (Chris) Mayeda of Torrance, Calif., Clarence Mayeda of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
