Traffic will likely remain restricted to one lane through midnight between Royal Poinciana Drive and Lyman’s surf spot, according to the Hawaii Police Department. Crews are directing traffic, which is being allowed both northbound and southbound at this time.
Alii Drive was closed around 7 a.m. after a guide wire failed causing two utility poles to snap, according to the Hawaii Electric Light Co. The road closure is in effect at Alii Drive’s intersection with Royal Poinciana Drive and also at Lyman’s surf spot, according to the Hawaii Police Department. The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m.
Utility crews remain on the scene. Motorists are advised to use caution when driving through the areas.
