Alii Drive reopened to both lanes of travel about 10 p.m. Friday following an all-day closure because of downed utility poles in the area of Banyans surf spot.

Alii Drive was closed around 7 a.m. Friday between Lyman’s surf spot and the road’s intersection with Royal Poinciana Drive after two utility poles were downed after a guy wire apparently snapped, according to Hawaii Electric Light Co. and the Hawaii Police Department.

Around 7 p.m. Friday, crews reopened one lane on Alii Drive, allowing both northbound and southbound traffic. Police said the road was fully open by 10 p.m.
