Warren Joseph Ferreira, 73, of Hilo and formerly of Honolulu, died April 6, 2013, at the Hospice facility (Pohai Malama) in Hilo. Born Jan. 31, 1940, in Honolulu, he was a retired deputy chief of police in Honolulu, retired from Outrigger Hotels as director of security and recently retired as director of campus security for the University of Hawaii in Hilo.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. May 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 11 a.m. May 4 at Borthwick Mortuary in Honolulu for a noon service. Family requests aloha attire be worn. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Hospice of Hilo, 1011 Waianuenue Ave., Hilo, HI 96720.

He is survived by wife, Cindy Kerrigan-Ferreira of Hilo; daughters, Wendy (Quentin) Ilac-Ferreira and Stacy (Paul) Clayton, both of Honolulu, Lynn (Harley) Ferreira-Anglin of Las Vegas; son, James Ferreira of Honolulu; stepbrothers, Billy Freitas of Carson City, Nev., Marvin Freitas of Las Vegas, Roy Freitas of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Rocky Freitas of California; stepsisters, Paulette Vecasey of Arizona, Linda Holstein of Honolulu; six grandchildren.
