c Cal State Fullerton 5, Hawaii 0: The Titans’ Justin Garza threw eight shutout innings Saturday in Honolulu as the Titans improved to 35-7 overall and 11-3 in the Big West Conference.

Garza struck out two batters and walked one.

J.D. Davis, who followed Garza with a scoreless inning, went 5-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI at the plate. Carlos Lopez, who finished 3-for-5, also scored twice.

Hawaii starter Matt Cooper lasted just three innings in taking the loss. He gave up three runs on five hits, striking out five and walking none.

Conner George and Andre Real each had two hits for the Warriors (9-28, 4-10)

SOFTBALL

c Long Beach State 14, Hawaii 7, Long Beach State 11, Hawaii 3: Sarah Carrasco went 4-for-4 with five RBIs in Saturday’s twinbill in Honolulu, and leadoff batter Shayna Kimbrough finished 6-for-8 with three RBIs as the 49ers handed the Rainbow Wahine their first series loss of the season.

Hawaii played without pitching ace Kaia Parnaby, who was hit in the face by a batted ball on Friday. Long Beach State (32-20 overall, 14-7 Big West Conferende) pounded out 15 hits in Game 1 and 12 more in Game 2.

Loie Kesterson suffered the loss in both contests. In Game 1, she allowed eight runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings. In Game 2, she surrendered 11 runs on 12 hits over five innings in a game that ended because of the mercy rule.

Hawaii (38-10, 15-2) managed just 13 hits in the doubleheader.

In Game 1 Kelly Majam went 2-for-5 with four RBIs, blasting a three-run homer in a five-run second inning.

Kayla Wartner and Jazmine Zamora each had two hits for the Rainbow Wahine in Game 2.

Erin Jones-Wesley earned the victory in both games for Long Beach State, allowing three runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings in Game 1. She walked three and struck out two.

In Game 2, Jones-Wesley pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief of Christian Carbajal, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out eight and walking six.
