Paul Hilburn

Paul Kern Hilburn, 81, of Honaunau died April 23, 2013. Born Oct. 4, 1931, in Kobe, Japan, he was an Army veteran, teacher, principal and school superintendent and member of the Big Island Gun Club, Civil Air Patrol and Experimental Aircraft Association.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. May 4 at Horseplay for a celebration of life. Call 328-2163 to reserve a space and for directions.

He is survived by spouse, Mary Beth Hilburn of Honaunau; sons, Eric (Rhonda) Hilburn of Boise, Idaho, Greg (Marlene) Hooten of Austin, Texas; daughters, Tove (Antonio) Mendez of Auburn, Wash., Carlye (Mike) Hooten of Honaunau; sister, Mary (Walter) Kuehner of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
