Wilfred “Slack Key Willie” Edward Pereira, 76, of Kailua-Kona died April 19, 2013, at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born June 23, 1936, in Madras, India, he was a project chief and research chemist for the U.S. Geological Survey and member of Grace Community Church.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. April 28 at Grace Community Church, 74- 4889 Palani Road, Kailua-Kona, for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Irene Pereira of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Lizabeth (Jimmy) Hurst of Oakdale, Calif., Rosemary Pereira of Denver; sons, Richard (Lynn) Lozano of Westminster, Colo., Phillip (Shellie) Lozano of San Jose, Calif.; sisters, Sheila Sleep of England, Marjorie Tobit of Florida, Phoebe John of Hyberbad, India, Pauline D’Souza of Chennai, South India, Anne (Champ) Philips of Coonoor, South India, Claire Pereira of Centennial, Colo., Christina (Errol) Bensley of Auroroa, Ontario, Canada, Pamela (Baldwin) Bensley of Richmond Hill, Ontario; brother, Peter Pereira of Centennial, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
