Deirdre Moana Tavares, 60, of Hilo died April 21, 2013, at her residence. Born May 6, 1952, in Honolulu, she was a member of the Ka La Hui Hawaii and the Kaiau Gardens at the Boys and Girls Club.
Services will be held at a later date.
She is survived by daughters, Carissa (Allen) Julian, Karina Urton and Moana (Kevin) Louis, all of Kapolei, Oahu; son, Kawika Tangonan of Kapolei, Oahu; brothers, Akana Tavares and Tilton Tavares, both of Virginia; sister, Virginia (John) Karalius of Arkansas; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
