Masaji Oyama, 89, of Hilo died March 26, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honomu, he was a retired general maintenance supervisor with the former Kulani State Prison, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and World War II Army veteran.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. April 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Michiko Oyama of Hilo; sons, Stafford (Martha) Oyama and Dean Oyamam, both of Hilo, Neil (Debbie) Oyama of Honolulu; brother, Rodney (Chitose) Oyama of San Diego; sister, Stella (Hisashi) Morita of Hilo; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
