Alfredo Menor “Alfred” Casil, 93, of Pepeekeo died April 3, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 6, 1919, in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired Hilo Coast Processing Co. cane truck driver and member of the Hawaii County Band, Pepeekeo Filipino Community Association, Filipino Catholic Club, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Kulaimanu Senior Citizens, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and Kamana Center Ballroom Dancing Club. He was was a 1946 sakada, or plantation recruit, from the Philippines and member of the Hawaii National Guard.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. April 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. April 22 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial is at Alae Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Julita Casil of Pepeekeo; daughter, Gloria (Gabriel) Sampaia of Hilo; son, Adrian Casil of Pepeekeo; brothers, Melchor (Praxedes) Casil of California, Glicerio (Felisa) Casil and Arsenio (Ofelia) Casil, both of Pepeekeo; sister, Stella (Federico) Nefalar of Philippines; five granddaughters; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
