Alejandrina “Andrea” P. Abarcar, 87, of Paauhau died April 8, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 20, 1926, in Haina, she was a retired waitress for the Mauna Kea Westin, teacher’s aide for Honokaa Elementary School and member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa, Parish Rosary Group, Honokaa Saranay Club, Honokaa Salvation Army and Home League, volunteer at Hale Hoola Hamakua Long Term Care Facility and a current president for the ILWU Pensioners’ Club and vice-president of the Seniors Nutrition Center.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. April 19 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 6 p.m. rosary with wake service to follow. Friends may call again at 8 a.m. April 20 at the church for a 10 a.m. Mass. A luncheon follows at the church hall. Burial is at 1:30 p.m. at Mauna Kea Memorial Park in Papaikou. Family requests formal attire and no flowers.

She is survived by daughters, Patricia (Rickie) Reynolds of San Diego, Victoria (Rico Rapoza) Teves of Paauhau; son, Peter (Carole) Abarcar of Waikoloa; brothers, Alfred (Yuki) Panela of Honolulu, William (Carmen) Valera of Paauilo; sister, Beatrice (George) Cabral of Ookala; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
