c Cal Poly 8, Hawaii 3: Joey Wagman pitched a complete-game eight-hitter, and Nick Torres hit a three-run homer as the Mustangs extended the Warriors’ losing streak to seven games Friday in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Torres’ homer helped Cal Poly (23-8 overall, 5-2 Big West) jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, while Jimmy Allen had RBI singles in the first and eighth innings. Allen finished 2-for-3 while leadoff man Denver Chaves was 3-for-5.

On the mound, Wagman gave up just one earned run, striking out eight and walking none.

Hawaii starting pitcher Connor Little (1-5) lasted six innings, allowing six runs — four earned — on seven hits. She struck out five and walked one.

At the plate, Piikea Kitamura hit a two-run single that got the Warriors (7-23, 6-14) within 4-2, while Kaeo Aliviado went 2-for-4.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

c Hawaii def. UC-San Diego 25-20, 15-25, 25-21, 25-23: Brooke Sedore had 19 kills, five digs and two aces, and Taylor Averill added 13 kills as the Warriors broke a three-match losing streak Friday in La Jolla, Calif.

Averill hit a blistering .706, and Sedore hit .289 for Hawaii (10-16 overall, 9-14 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation). Jace Olsen chipped in seven kills, seven digs and two aces.

Carl Eberts led UC-San Diego (7-21, 4-19) with 13 kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Nick Iorfino added 12 kills, and Johi Awerkamp had 10 for the Tritons, who outhit the Warriors .255 to .254.

Hawaii and UC-San Diego will play at 4 p.m. today in the regular-season finale for both teams.
