French language group meets Thursday
Residents or visitors who speak French are invited to a group that meets for casual conversation at 5 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of every month at Alii Gardens Marketplace. Meetings are scheduled April 11 and 25.

Keikifest slated for Saturday in Waimea
The 14th annual Waimea Healthy Keikifest will feature more than 35 hands-on activities for keiki, ages 3 to 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Parker Ranch Center.
While keiki have fun learning about safety, health and nutrition, they’ll earn tickets for face painting, balloons and an inflatable bouncer.

Free financial wellness seminar series offered
Lai Opua 2020-Kau i ka Malie Multimedia Cultural Center along with AXA Advisors is hosting a financial wellness seminar series to educate the community on topics including basic financial planning, college savings, long-term care and estate planning.
The following free seminars will be held at the Kau i ka Malie Multimedia Cultural Center on the Kealakehe High School campus.
A college planning and financial aid seminar begins at 5:30 p.m. April 18. This presentation will include information about education savings plans such as 529s, UGMAs and UTMAs, and Coverdells. Also, a guest speaker from University of Hawaii Center, West Hawaii will discuss the financial aid application process.
A Social Security and Medicare seminar begins at 5:30 p.m. April 25. Attendees will learn about alternatives to Medicare, options for long-term care funding, and the effects of early retirement on social security. A Medicare expert from Premier Benefit Consultants will be on hand to answer any questions.
An estate planning seminar begins at 5:30 p.m. May 2. Attendees will learn what estate planning is, the difference between a will and a trust, and what steps to take to create an “akamai” estate plan. Estate attorney Dean Park, founder of Estate Planning Group, will speak.
A home purchasing and refinancing seminar is slated for 5:30 p.m. May 9 with Barbara Welsh, from Apex Mortgage. Welsh, and others, will teach attendees about financing a home, finding a home, types of mortgages and when to refinance.
A retirement planning seminar begins at 5:30 p.m. May 16. Participants will learn where their retirement finances stand and what they must do to achieve the retirement lifestyle they desire.
