Sadao “Sam” Tachibana, 88, of Mililani, Oahu, formerly of Pepeekeo, died March 7, 2013, at home. Born in Lanai City, Lanai, he was a retired auto mechanic with the Orchid Isle Auto Center in Hilo, member of the Kinoole Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Company H, 2nd Battalion.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. April 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Private urn committal services will occur at a later date. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers or monetary donations.

He is survived by daughters, Gail Tachibana of Honolulu, Merle (Michael) Yusi of Mililani, Oahu; sisters, Doris Kanemitsu of Kaunakakai, Molokai, Betsy (Larry) Irei of Honolulu, Dorothy English of California; brother, Walter (Sandra) Matsumoto of Makakilo, Oahu; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
