Women’s group luncheon slated Friday
The Kona Women’s Connection quarterly luncheon, “Baubles, Bangles, Beads and Bling,” is planned from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club’s large pavilion. The event includes a jewelry fashion show hosted by Linda Scopetta of Linscope Creations. After lunch, catered by Island Naturals, actress, real estate professional and volleyball player Gloria Feralio will present “Your Life Can Have a Happy Ending.”

‘Relationshifting’ author to speak
Angela Longo, author of “Relationshifting: Tools for Living Quantum Resplendence,” will speak from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Acupuncture Clinic, 67-1275 Kaomoloa Road, Waimea.
Longo will present ways for participants to live their “quantum radiance” and know their “mirror calls.”

Traffic safety panel meeting Thursday
The Kona Traffic Safety Committee meets at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Community Halau, Building G of the West Hawaii Civic Center. The committee creates an opportunity for members of the community to meet with county and state officials who can help mitigate traffic safety problems. Parking is available in the makai lot next to Building G.
Culinary competition scheduled for Friday
The 15th annual Hilo Culinary Classic, a Hawaii Community College Culinary Arts Program food competition, is set from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the college’s cafeteria in Hilo.
Experts will evaluate students’ culinary creations, judging their work for presentation, nutritional balance, thematic balance, workmanship, practicality, creativity and composition.
First-year culinary students will present a heavy pupu buffet.

Committee on women’s status meets Friday
Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women meets at 10 a.m. Friday at the prosecuting attorney’s office in Hilo. West Hawaii residents may attend via video conference at the prosecuting attorney’s office at 81-9801 Halekii Street, Suite 150, Kealakekua.
Breast cancer survivors sought
to help others
Cancer can be an isolating disease. Having someone to talk to who has been through a cancer diagnosis and understands the difficulties that come with it makes the journey more bearable. To have someone who is willing to share their experiences and let others know they are not alone can be lifesaving.
The Hawaii Island Field Office is recruiting volunteers — breast cancer survivors more than one year past the last date of treatment — for its Reach to Recovery volunteer program. The next training session is slated from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the American Cancer Society Hawaii Island field office. For more information, call 935-0025.
