Francisco “Chito” Asuncion, 71, of Kealakekua died Feb. 28, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 10, 1941, in Kealakekua, he was a cook at the Marriott Hotel in Waikoloa, Kona Inn and the former Kona Lagoon Hotel.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. April 14 at the Makaeo Events Pavilion at Old Kona Airport Park for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by son, Chito (Kahea) Asuncion of Pahala; daughters, Natalie Taketa and Desiree (Kimo) Asuncion, both of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Segundo (Linda) Asuncion of Lanai, Chris (Liz) Asuncion of Holualoa, Clare Asuncion and Mariano (Yvonne) Naldoza and Albert (Jai) Asuncion, all of Kailua-Kona, Paul (Julie) Asuncion and Cecilio Asuncion, both of Kealakekua, Eddie Asuncion of Ocean View; sister, Jane (Kip) Raiford of Fern Acres; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
