The Second Tuesday Fiction Group meets Tuesday to discuss “The Paris Wife” by Paula McLain. Set in 1920s Paris, the book tells of the love affair between Ernest Hemingway and his wife, Hadley.

The Just the Facts Group meets April 23 to discuss “Birdseye” by Mark Kurlansky. While working as a fur trapper in Canada, Clarence Birdseye observed that vegetables in the Arctic winds froze in a way that maintained their integrity after thawing. As a result, he developed his patented Birdseye freezing process. Kurlansky’s narrative shows how the greatest changes can come from the simplest ideas and the unlikeliest places.

Enneagram group meets Tuesdays

The Enneagram Study Group meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays in Kailua-Kona.

Participants will learn about the nine personality types of Enneagram, studying one per week. Group attendees will learn their type and gain an understanding of how others present themselves to the world.

This information will give participants a deeper understanding of themselves and others.

for lunch Tuesday

The Kona Shrine Club meets for a luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at Lulu’s restaurant on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona.

All Shriners are welcome to attend.

Brain injury support group to meet

The Brain Injury Support group will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawaiian Rehab Services, located mauka of the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union on Hualalai Road.

Dr. Theresa Wang and Dee Faessler will share “Life After Rehab … Now What do I do.” Wang, a traumatic brain injury survivor, and Faessler, a caregiver, will discuss their experiences and what they have learned and implemented in their everyday lives.

Financial adviser to speak to Legionnaires

The American Legion Kona Post 20 meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Teshima’s restaurant’s meeting hall. Bill Cork, a financial adviser with Edward Jones Investments, is the guest speaker.

All veterans and their families are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Ethics board
meets Wednesday

Hawaii County Board of Ethics meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the County Building, 25 Aupuni St., No. 1501, Hilo. Board meetings are open to the public. The agenda is posted on the county’s website.
